Who Can Reach 100 First?

www.MAZES.com/100.html
copyright 1997

Rules: We will take turns choosing numbers between one and ten, adding those numbers to the running total. The winner is the one who reaches exactly 100 first. If I go first, I would always win, so you may go first. When you learn my trick (my method), you could win every time. Good luck and have fun with my game.

He has been a programmer since 1969, and was the author of the first Star Trek game written for a microcomputer, written for the TRS-80 Model One Level I 16K in late 1977, released in February, 1978, and given away by many Radio Shack salesman in the midwest (and maybe throughout the U.S.).

Did you enjoy this game?
It took me many hours and days to write the code for this page. I enjoyed writing it. Please respect the time I've invested in this page, and keep my name and this information in every copy you make. You may, if you wish, copy this entire file, AS IS, to your school web page as long as I get full credit. Please e-mail John (at) Mazes.com if you put my 100 game on your web site.

Do you enjoy puzzles?
Please show your appreciation for my donation of time by purchasing some of my personalized products. Please visit my messagemaze directory full of personalized mazes I've made for other people. Buy personalized puzzles for the puzzle-lovers in your family or in your circle of amazing friends. You can find full information at www.MAZES.com.
Classroom quantity discounts are available. If you are interested in amazing gifts for your class, here's an idea:

BOOKMARK mazes (all for the same person): One bookmark costs $5; five bookmarks, $10; 25 bookmarks, $20; and $50 for 50 bookmarks. Every bookmark will be different, but each will have the same AMAZING message of your choice. I guarantee that EVERY MAZE WILL BE DIFFERENT. Drive your puzzle-lover crazy. In fact, with this deal, you could get enough for everyone coming to a party, hand them out, announce that they can get the cake and ice cream when they have solved the puzzle. Let them discover on their own that their maze is different from their neighbors (they will, of course, peek at the neighbors to see if that will help them solve their maze. Such a bookmark maze could have a message like 'MARILYN ARLEEN IS AN AMAZING BIRTHDAY GIRL' like the maze you can see if you 'click' on that message. (At this price, I have to ask that these puzzles be for personal use. You may request any message of your choice, as long as it does not include a business name or trademark, or appear like it might be a commercial message.)

BOOKMARK mazes (classroom teacher special): If you want to order bookmarks with different messages (for example with different names), the price starts out at $5 per bookmark (same prices as above). If you order at least five different messages, take 10% off your total order; at least ten different messages, take 20% off; at least 25, 30% off; at least 50, 40% off; at least 100; 50% off. A Teacher could order '(firstname) IS AN AMAZING STUDENT' bookmarks for her whole class, and pay just $3.50 per bookmark, or order FIVE different bookmarks for each student for $7 per student. While only classroom teachers may order by official school district purchase order, everyone may use the discounts outlined here.

Businesses may order at classroom teacher quantity rates as long as every maze includes full names of customers (not employees) because it is assumed that these would NOT be for advertising use. Other business use would have to have higher prices in order to more closely reflect the actual amount of time that has actually been spent on this project).

NOTES about the game. When the computer is winning, the game will appear very random. When the computer is losing, it will play the same way every time. This is a limitation of HTML. To the best of my knowledge, there is no random number generator that works with all browsers. Actually, this 'program', even when it is winning, is playing a very FIXED game. When you figure out the method, you will see why.

I did NOT develop the game itself. I only claim credit for this web page version of the game. I played this game in school when I was a kid, then forgot about it until I read about it again in a book about math puzzles and games. I hope you enjoy the work I put into this game. Please thank me with orders for mazes.

If you find any mistakes, or have any compliments or suggestions for improvement, please e-mail John (at) Mazes.com. Thank You.

The most current copy of this HTML code should always be findable at {www.MAZES.com/100.html}. If your students memorize the numbers needed to win in this particular page, let me know, because I can post similar pages that use different sets of numbers (but the same strategy).
