Just like Luke, Esther, Amos, Acts, Titus, Mark & Kings are hidden in the title, the names of all the books of the Bible are hidden in the puzzle inside the box above (click here to see story puzzle if you do not see it above). All material on this page written and copyright by John Knoderer (webmaster (at) mazes.com). These puzzles are interesting hide&seek activities for kids of all ages (kid-kids, adult-kids and senior-kids).
Publisher Alert
New puzzles available for publication
This will not be my only Puzzle Story. Much of my time creating this puzzle was spent creating a searchable dictionary that will let me more speedily create new stories, and not just about the Bible. I am more than willing to supply never-published material to publishers who require unique stories. If your needs require a certain framework (list of words) or background (story theme or regional attitude), I will be glad to discuss the details with you. I can introduce any story-element into a uniquely creative puzzle.
Publishers willing to publish material that has been previously published, at "syndicated" rates, may use any material posted on this page at their standard rates for "syndicated-type" material.
If your organization wishes a similar puzzle developed around a different list of related words, I will be glad to discuss that with you. My extensive and special programming, combined with an extensive (very large) dictionary allow me to search for words to fit in different ways.
Of course, I'll be more than delighted to create many more of these puzzles. If you need one that has NEVER been published anywhere, I can easily send you one on relatively short notice. I can create puzzle stories with other lists of related words, such as books of the ______, so let me know your needs.
I'm always willing to work with publishers at their standard rates of reimbursement for either "syndicated rights" (previously published or multiply submitted), "first-time rights" or "exclusive rights". (return to top of page)

Other Ideas for Your Use
The day I finished editing the first puzzle, I took it to a church in a nearby town. After their special service, I stood out in the foyer, showed the puzzle to kids and adults, showed them two of the hidden books, then told them if they could show me one more hidden Bible book, I'd let them keep the puzzle. All but one earned their puzzle. (The one who didn't was four years old). Afterward, several of them complimented me for making them "earn" the puzzle because they thought it meant more to them that way.
A group of sixty kids are taking a tour of the Shiloh Bakery in Sulphur Springs. While half of the group tours the bakery, the other half will be having fun with this puzzle. If your group is close enough to Northwest Arkansas to take a field trip to Sulphur Springs, I'll be glad to visit with your group at Shiloh. (return to top of page)
invite The Byte Man to your event
The Byte Man has been a guest at a number of churches and several conventions over the years. In 1997 and 1998, he was invited to create puzzles for the AOK-LYO (Arkansas-Oklahoma Lutheran Youth Organization) annual Labor Day Weekend intergenerational gathering. He created personalized mazes for lots of the kids and sponsored a puzzle-solving contest for groups of kids and family groups. (Every group that entered won.)
As a guest at your gathering or event, he can create puzzles on the spot that include your kids names, like those you can download at <www.GodLovesEveryone.org>. In addition, he loves to create puzzles in advance that can be enjoyed by groups of kids and adults working together. His puzzle contests allow groups to jointly solve one puzzle which leads to another and to another.
John can come to your event. Just pay his full expenses (travel, meals, lodging) and offer him what you consider to be a reasonable honorarium. (return to top of page)

Do you plan to make your own copies of this puzzle for your group? If so, ask me to send you a laser-printed "master set:" for this puzzle or download it from the Internet. Sometimes, when you make copies from a double-sided page, you get bleed-through (not as good a copy). My master set is printed on one side each of two sheets. From these laser-printed originals, you can duplicate and make as many bulletin-sized puzzle booklets as you like. Please send your self-addressed-stamped-envelope to "Bible Story Master Set, c/o John Knoderer, P O Box 235, Sulphur Springs AR 72768". A donation is required for a master set. (The author spends most of his time as a volunteer, and needs your support). (return to top of page)

Why did I write this puzzle?
Part of the reason I wrote this puzzle is because I'm also a volunteer tutor at a literacy council. A few years ago, one of our older adult students loved every word puzzle I gave him, even though he had severe reading difficulties. I guess part of the reason he loved them was because my puzzles didn't depend on a particular reading level. His love of those puzzles encouraged me to write others. One time, I asked him once to tell me which puzzles he liked most. His answer? "John, you've never given me a puzzle I didn't like."
With this puzzle, I set out to create a reading-oriented puzzle that could use long words, but yet, not require a high reading ability in order to have fun with the puzzle. I also wanted to use a subject matter that would be of interest to a wide variety of people, so I used the Bible for my source words. I started with ALL the names of the books of the Bible, then I set out to create a weird story that let me hide all those words. My main distribution channel for this puzzle is the internet. If you want to use this, go right ahead and use it. If you give it to some pastors you know, maybe I'll even make a few pennies. (I can hope, can't I?).
Another reason I wrote this puzzle is because I enjoy creating puzzles that can be used by all denominations. Even though I grew up in the Lutheran Church, and even though I still participate in the ELCA church about 45 minutes from here on occasion, I do believe that all faith systems believe in the same God, so I will be glad to create versions of this puzzle that are based on other books that show God's influence, just like the Bible does. Just get in touch with me and provide some help.
I have spent many weeks on this puzzle. I can't even estimate the large number of hours required to create this puzzle. If you included the many hours I spent typing a dictionary into the computer, it would be well over 500 hours, but that was from years ago for another project that didn't go anywhere. But the time on this phase, searching that dictionary and using other online resources, I still have well over a hundred hours on this puzzle. (return to top of page)
Personalized GOD LOVES YOU mazes?
I have posted over a thousand actual mazes at < http://www.godloveseveryone.org/> with the most popular first names. It is my eventual goal to have at least 95% of the world listed on that site, every maze different. If you want to go directly to a particular first name, just use the address < http://www.godloveseveryone.org/john.gif> (but change "john" to the first name you are searching for, all in lower case).
