Solitaire Vocabulary (generic): Tableau: The tableau consists of seven piles in one row. Some game rules call these the "Row Stacks". These are the stacks that are built down by alternating colors, red 5, black 4, red 3, etc. The legal rules for the game state that only the top card or an entire tableau pile can be moved. However, some computer versions of the game allow you to move partial piles. Foundations: The aces start each of your foundation piles (also called suit Stacks" by some game publishers). These are the stacks that are built up inside the same suit, Ace, two, three of hearts, etc. Deck: The cards that are not dealt to form the tableau form the deck. These cards are turned up three at a time during the Klondike version of the game. Hand: The cards you turn up from the deck form the hand. Only the top card in the hand is playable.
